Aldimashqi

Reuterstraße 28, 12047 Berlin

If you live in Berlin (especially in Neukölln) you may have noticed it smells a little bit like kebab. But in a good way!
Falafel makes me crazy and that smell just makes me (even more) hungry.

I remember the first time I moved to Sonnenallee, how impressed I was that every single day there was a new opening. The places were full of balloons, flowers, music and of course food. What a great start! One day on my way to work I counted them… Only in Sonnenallee there were more than 40 places that sold kebabs (I was not distinguishing them between Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Lebanese, African, Syrian, etc.)

So well, today I am going to talk about one of my favorite ones. Aldimashqi الدمشقي

Aldimashqi is a Syrian restaurant close to Hermannplatz, in Reuterstraße. It opened in 2017 in the venue of former Turkish Ocakbasi Adanus.

They offer not a simple Schawarma, it’s THE Schawarma. Grilled chicken, secret mix of spices, garlic sauce and flatbread. French fries on the side and that’s it, the best Schawarma you can ever eat.

But they don’t sell only Schawarma, they also have Falafel, Makali, Halloumi, Hummus, Eggplant, Lamb…  And I must confess since I discovered Falafel, that’s my one true love when I eat at a middle-east restaurants. (And Kunafa as dessert of course!)

So trust me and try it. It’s a experience full of love for food traditions and culture. And do you know what’s the best about it? The price. Big dishes for 6 EUR and sandwiches for 2- 4 EUR. Magic. You won’t regret it.
